Overview

In Jul. 2013, a 2-zone gravel pack completion job took place on a new platform in Wenchang oilfield, Ruifeng Petrotech provided completion string and pumping service for the target well. The completion tool system enables a high-rate single zone gravel packing, multiple zones could be completed as well with extra trips.

Since the platform was newly activated in stormy season with a whole new crew, a lot of challenges had to be solved, such as continuous operation from running in hole till gravel pack pumping, one mistake in execution could cause collateral effects and delay the rig schedule.

Challenges & Solutions

Despite that the storm caused 6 days delay in operation, the completion operation was still finished 3.6 days ahead of schedule, the gravel pack job was pumped per design without any NPT (Non-Productive Time) and HSE incidents. Due to the flawless execution by the on-site crew, Ruifeng received an awarding letter from CNOOC customer.
